Men in the Making

Musa Capital is proud to partake in Men in the Making event sponsored by Tracker and Metro FM

Overview:

'Men in the Making' is a concept derived from the realization that boy children in South Africa are also calling out for attention, help, recognition and acknowledgement as they grapple with the challenges of life.

The primary objective of the project is to help raise responsible young men through the introduction to role models, career guidance, mentoring, guidance and support, life skills development and moral regeneration. The initiative is endorsed by the Department of Education.  The Department sees it contributing to Government’s 2014 goals and objectives in poverty eradication and making this country a better place for all who live in it. Other major players included Tracker Network and Metro FM.

It is more than just a career day:

In March, 25th 2011, 6 scholars from Alexandra High and Lidig High were invited to spend a day at Musa Capital offices. Musa also organised an additional 35 students to attend a day of inspiration at its associated companies as well. At Musa, the scholars were hired into a role of corporate finance analysts’ team and were tasked to prepare a recommendation to the senior partners for an asset allocation model for the R100 million investment mandate recently awarded to the firm. 

They were split into two teams, competing for a nice “year-end” incentive and given an opportunity to do research and analysis before making their recommendation. They were given time to prepare their analysis plan and schedule the use of the firm’s resources for the day. They were allowed to interview a select number of their new colleagues at Musa that may have specialist knowledge that will assist them in compiling their recommendation. 

After all the excitement and hard work, they were required to present their findings to the Investment Committee. Musa Capital’s mission is to enrich the foundations of our country’s future by inspiring young minds while having fun doing it.

We hope to plant the seeds of ambition within each of them that will one day result in a crop of adult men who are not only well balanced and good providers for their families, but become role models in their communities..."
